No. Healthy adult alpacas do well on good forage plus minerals. A balanced camelid pellet may be useful; straight grain is risky.
Alpacas evolved on sparse high-altitude grasses. Grain ferments quickly in the first compartment and can cause acidosis, ulcers, obesity and, in males, urinary stones.
Underweight animals, heavily lactating females and seniors may benefit from extra calories — beet pulp, a camelid ration, or alfalfa are safer options than grain.
