How big do alpacas get?

Alpacas are much smaller than llamas. A typical adult is about 3 feet tall at the withers (shoulder) and around 4.5-5 feet to the top of the head. Most adults weigh between 120 and 180 lb.

Crias weigh 15-19 lb (7-9 kg) at birth and reach roughly 60% of adult weight by a year old. Females are usually bred once they are about 18 months old and at least about 90-100 lb.
