Sometimes, but horses can kick or chase alpacas. Grazing them separately or on adjoining pastures is safer.
A benefit of co-grazing with horses is that horses don't share most alpaca worms. Watch for rough play and keep alpacas away from horses during EHV-1 outbreaks.
