Short answer
Males are called machos (breeding males are herdsires; castrated males are geldings), and females are called hembras or dams.
In English-speaking alpaca circles you will hear 'herdsire' for a breeding male, 'gelding' or 'fiber male' for a castrated male, 'dam' for a mother and 'maiden' for a female that has never been bred.
